Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton

The Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom introduced many to Lisa Fischer, the soulful vocal powerhouse who spent decades singing backup for music legends. After backing icons like The Rolling Stones (touring with them for over 25 years), Luther Vandross, Sting, and Tina Turner, the film prompted Fischer to finally take her own center stage. Her unparalleled vocal gifts have been described as a "singular and rare vibration" with an "astonishing range" that can span from a soulful whisper to a soaring, full-throated belt. Since pursueing her solo career, she has performed at some of the most prestigious jazz festivals in the world. Including Monterey and Newport. Grand Baton is led by French guitarist, arranger, and musical director JC Maillard. The band's musicianship is nothing short of breathtaking, with Maillard often playing instruments like the unique guitar/banjo hybrid known as the banjitar or his Turkish inspired custom saz/bass. Other core members include drummer Thierry Arpino and bassist Richie Goods  

Their organic fusion of Caribbean psychedelic soul and jazzy progressive rock ignites Fischer’s flexibility and freedom of expression and her desire to make music that heals but still rocks the house.
