Event Details
Rickie Lee Jones is an American musician, storyteller, two-time Grammy winner and eight-time nominee who has been inspiring pop culture for decades, beginning with her star-making self-titled debut and the seminal Pirates. Named the “premiere song-stylist and songwriter of her generation” by The New Yorker and “The Duchess of Coolsville” by Time magazine, Jones released her Grammy-nominated album Pieces of Treasure in 2023, a reunion with Russ Titelman, who produced her first two records. Jones’ celebrated memoir Last Chance Texaco was named Book of the Year by MOJO and on Best of Year lists by NPR, Pitchfork, and many more. The Independent writes, “There has always been something defiant about Rickie Lee Jones . . . a voice from a dream, elusive yet familiar, transcendent, a messenger from another place.”
The historic Plaza Theatre and Moondance Concerts (TBC) welcome two-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones for an evening of music and storytelling at the newly restored historic downtown venue.
For more than four decades, Jones has captivated audiences with her singular blend of jazz, folk, rock, and pop. From her breakthrough self-titled debut and the landmark album Pirates to her 2024 Grammy-nominated release, Pieces of Treasure, she has remained one of America's most distinctive and influential musical voices.
Called "the premier song stylist and songwriter of her generation" by The New Yorker and famously dubbed "The Duchess of Coolsville" by Time, Jones has built a career defined by artistic independence and fearless creativity. Her acclaimed memoir, Last Chance Texaco, was named Book of the Year by MOJO and appeared on numerous year-end best-of lists, including NPR and Pitchfork. As The Independent wrote, "There has always been something defiant about Rickie Lee Jones . . . a voice from a dream, elusive yet familiar, transcendent, a messenger from another place."
Audiences can expect beloved classics including "Chuck E.'s in Love" and "Last Chance Texaco," as well as her critically praised interpretations from the Great American Songbook. Her performances are defined by her smoky, laid-back delivery tinged with a touch of hipster irony - intimate, atmospheric concert experiences that are both timeless and deeply personal.
This long-overdue Palm Springs performance launches a West Coast run of October dates and offers an opportunity to enjoy one of America's most compelling artists in this intimate and restored jewel. Captivating stories, acoustic intimacy, and an unmistakable voice make an evening with Rickie Lee Jones one that lingers long after the final note.
