Sam Morrison

Presented by Alan Cumming, Sugar Daddy became a smash hit Off Broadway before transferring to London and touring the US. Comedian Sam Morrison tells the remarkable and wildly funny story of falling in love an older man he meets at a gay bear festival, then finding hope and humor in grief after losing him to COVID. Sugar Daddy is a raunchy, ridiculous, and surprisingly joyful hour of stand-up and storytelling about love, loss, type 1 diabetes, seagull attacks, and a few extraordinary coincidences.

“As theater prepares to rumble into its Tony season full-gear, Morrison’s is the best new show in New York right now: a whip-crack 65 minutes, beautifully told, sharp, moving, and truly laugh-out-loud, doubled-up, head-thrown-back funny.”

•  The Daily Beast

“A wonderfully intimate offering that stints neither on big laughs, nor on honesty…Sam Morrison’s superb show about his partner’s death proves grief is not beyond comedy’s reach.”

• The Guardian

“Nothing I can write will truly describe the brilliance of this stand-up show. There simply isn't enough hyperbole.”

• Broadway World

“Quick-witted and charismatic...the grief comes out in laughs. Sam Morrison confronts overwhelming loss with punch lines and panache.”

• New York Times

“His openness and wit…ultimately his catharsis and the audience’s laughter draw everyone together in tragedy and comedy’s borderland.”

• New Yorker
