PALM SPRINGS PLAZA THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2026 ARTS TEACH KIDS SCHOOL DAY PERFORMANCE SERIES 

PALM SPRINGS, CA (May 30, 2025) – The historic Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs is proud to announce the inaugural 2026 ARTS TEACH KIDS school day performance series, featuring three acclaimed children's productions for schools throughout Southern California. Each production will offer two performances daily at 9:30 AM and 12:00 PM to accommodate varying school schedules. Registration is open now via this link.

This is what the restoration of The Plaza Theatre has always been about: creating a vibrant cultural hub that serves everyone, starting with our children."  

The ARTS TEACH KIDS program represents the Plaza Theatre's commitment to community engagement and educational outreach following its complete restoration. The historic venue, a Palm Springs cultural landmark since 1936, is currently undergoing a complete restoration which will transform it into a state-of-the-art performing arts destination while preserving its iconic character.  

The 2026 inaugural season includes:  
 

Don't Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! - January 15, 2026 - 9:30am & 12 noon 

Based on Mo Willems #1 New York Times best-selling and Caldecott Honor award-winning picture books, this musical features an innovative mix of songs perfect for students in Pre-K through 2nd grade. With music by Deborah Wicks La Puma, the production follows the Pigeon's amusing attempts to fulfill his dream of driving a bus. 
 

Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends - April 28, 2026 - 9:30am & 12 noon 

This STEM-focused musical celebrates the adventures of three inquisitive thinkers: Ada Twist, with her boundless curiosity, Rosie Revere, with her big dreams, and Iggy Peck, with his passion for architecture. Based on Andrea Beaty's acclaimed book series, this 60-minute production is designed for grades K-4. 
 

Pete The Cat - May 14, 2026 - 9:30am & 12 noon 

Join the groovy blue cat as he helps second-grader Jimmy Biddle and his artistic inspiration in this 50-minute adaptation perfect for Pre-K through 3rd grade students. The adventure takes them all the way to Paris and back in a VW Bus! 

 

Registration Information  

School administrators, teachers, and group organizers are invited to request tickets through the Plaza Theatre's online reservation system. Click here to reserve seats.   Seats are $10 each.  Through generous donors to the Plaza Theatre Foundation’s Arts Teach Kids Scholarship Fund, a limited number of seats for each performance are available at free or reduced rates based on the student/school’s ability to pay.    

Important details for educators and homeschool organizers:  

● Each performance requires completion of a separate request form  

● Schools and homeschool groups must arrange and pay for their transportation to the Plaza Theatre  

● Free parking is available for buses and passenger vehicles  

● Schools will receive notification about their request status approximately 90 days before the performance date  

● Educational resources and study guides related to each show are available
