The historic Palm Springs Plaza Theatre has been thoughtfully reimagined to provide a welcoming and accessible experience for all guests. During the theatre’s restoration, special care was taken to incorporate modern accessibility features while preserving the charm and architectural integrity of this beloved and historic landmark. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that every visitor can enjoy the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre comfortably. Accessibility FAQs 

ADA / Accessible Seating 

  • Designated accessible seating is available on the Orchestra level, subject to ticket availability. Accessible seats can be purchase through Ticketmaster by utilizing the “Show Accessible Seats” filter. 
  • WCACC = Wheelchair Seat 

  • COMPAN = Companion Seat 

  • During the renovation of the theatre, the floor in the back of the orchestra seating area was flattened to allow for wheelchair accessible seating to be added. 

  • During the renovation of the theatre, seat widths and sizes were increased 

  • Due to the historic nature of the building, there is no elevator access to the Mezzanine Level, and thus no accessible seating on that level.  

Aisle Ramps 

  • During the renovation of the theatre, aisle ramps were made wider to be ADA Compliant. 

  • Due to the historic nature of the building, the aisle ramps in the Orchestra seating have a steep 12% slope; please ask any staff member or volunteer for assistance if using a wheelchair to go down or back up the aisle ramp.  

All-Gender / ADA Restrooms 

  • There are 2 all-gender, single-occupancy restrooms inside the theatre. These can be found to the left and right of the Modernism Week Lobby prior to entering the orchestra seating area.  

  • During the renovation of the theatre, all-gender restrooms were updated to be ADA compliant 

Allergies / Dietary Restrictions 

  • A light selection of pre-made snacks, alcoholic beverages, and non-alcoholic beverages are available inside the theatre.  

  • Please check ingredients on packages prior to purchase.  

  • When purchasing from a bartender or staff member, please notify them of any allergy you may have so they can follow the proper procedures to safely handle your food & beverage 

  • No outside food or beverages are allowed inside the theatre. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for medical necessity; please coordinate in advance with guestservices@palmspringsplazatheatre.com  

Assistive Listening Devices 

  • Assistive Listening Devices are available for complimentary checkout during any event. Please stop by the Guest Services podium located in the Modernism Week Lobby. 

Box Office 

  • During the renovation of the theatre, the ticket purchase window at the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation Box Office was updated to be ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible.  

Changing Tables 

  • Due to limited space and the historic nature of the building, baby and adult changing tables are not available inside the theatre. 

Entrances 

  • During the renovation of the theatre, all entrance doors were made wheelchair accessible. 

  • Entrances to the Modernism Week Lobby and the Donna & Jon Croel Orchestra were also made wheelchair accessible. 

Food & Beverage 

  • During the renovation of the theatre, the counter at the Shag Bar inside the Modernism Week Lobby was updated to be ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible. 

Interpreting Services 

  • Specific seats are designated for interpreting. In addition to securing an interpreter, the guest services team will partner with the box office to invoice you directly the correct seats for purchase. Please do not purchase seats on your own if you require the use of interpreting services. 

  • We request that you provide at least two (2) weeks prior to the event date to schedule an ASL interpreter. Requests made with less notice will be subject to availability and not guaranteed. 

Limited Mobility Drop-off  

  • Guests with limited mobility may be dropped off on S. Palm Canyon Drive, in front of the theatre.  

  • Please note that S. Palm Canyon Drive is a public street and subject to street closures.  

  • Please be aware of those around you and minimize the time traffic is blocked. 

Restrooms 

  • Due to the historic nature of the building, restroom availability is limited. Please plan accordingly. 

  • The Women’s Restroom can be found to the left of the Modernism Week Lobby on the main level, and on the right of the Auen Mezzanine on the second level. 

  • The Men’s Restroom can be found to the right of the Modernism Week Lobby on the main level, and on the left of the Auen Mezzanine on the second level. 

  • There are 2 all-gender, single-occupancy restrooms inside the theatre. These can be found to the left and right of the Modernism Week Lobby prior to entering the orchestra seating area. 

Sensory Kits & Accommodations 

  • Sensory kits or individual items can be checked out complimentary at the Guest Services podium located in the Modernism Week lobby. Items include various fidget toys for sensory-seeking guests, as well as noise-cancelling headphones and sunglasses (both adult and child sizes) for sensory-sensitive guests. Feelings Flash Cards are also available for guests that are nonverbal or have difficulty expressing their emotions. Identification Wristbands are available for any guest at risk of becoming lost (both adult and child sizes). 

Service Animals 

  • Trained service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are welcome at the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre. Service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times, unless special circumstances exist, and are required to rest in the seating area of the guest with the disability, rather than the aisle. 

  • Exit and re-entry is prohibited for animal relief. Please stop by the Guest Services podium in the Modernism Week Lobby to request approval from the House Manager.  

Stairs Only 

  • Due to the historic nature of the building, the Auen Mezzanine is accessible by stairs only. There are no elevators inside the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre.  

Valet 

  • Valet parking is available for purchase in advance through Ticketmaster, at Hotel Zoso located at 150 S. Palm Canyon Drive. Sales shut off 48hr prior to event. Complimentary shuttles are available to and from the hotel depending on availability.  

Wheelchair Assistance 

  • Guests who require additional assistance due to limited mobility can request a wheelchair transport from the main entrance to their seating location.  

  • Due to the historic nature of the building, the Auen Mezzanine is accessible by stairs only. There are no elevators inside the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre. Wheelchair transport to the second level is not available.   

  • For guests using a personal wheelchair or mobility device, please see “ADA/Accessible Seating” for information on purchasing wheelchair accessible seats. 

At the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre, we strive to be as welcoming and inclusive to all of our guests, both internal and external. Additional updates during the renovation of our theatre were made to enhance accessibility in our back-of-house areas, as well. These include: 

  • The flattened floor at the back of the orchestra seating area created a new accessible path of travel to the sound booth control position 

  • The performers’ entrance at the stage, including outdoor alleyway improvements, were created to ensure an accessible path of travel for our performers and crew 

  • A new accessible dressing room and restroom was created near the stage for our performers and crew 

  • A new accessible production control was created in the stage wing space for our crew
